Getting ready for the big game? The Super Bowl is as much about the food as it is about the game...or is that just my opinion? Here are some recipes that will satisfy all football fans. 

Team Fruit Skewers (Go with Super Bowl Team colors: Blueberries and raspberries)

Raspberries

Preparation
Line a white platter with fresh blueberries and raspberries (or any other fruit you like and slide fruit pieces on wooden skewers.


Veggie Chili
 
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped yellow bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp honey or agave nectar
1 1/2 tbsp s chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp dried oregano or Italian herbs
1 tsp salt 
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 (16-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes, un-drained 
2 (15-ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained 
1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained 

Optional: 
5 ounces crumbled veggie sausage or veggie meat crumbles (about 1.5 links of sausage)

Preparation

  1. Heat the oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onion, bell peppers, and garlic; sauté 5 minutes or until tender.
  3. Add honey and remaining ingredients, and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes.
