How To Be A Better You: Embrace Your Individuality

Coming from a place of yes means not only discovering a clearer view of who you really are, but acting on it in every aspect of your life. Separate from the Pack and embrace your individuality.

The more you evolve in your life, the more you will begin to realize that your own sense of control over your destiny isn’t an accident. You are who you are because of you, not because of anyone else. Others may influence you, but now I’d like you to think about how much you might want to consider limiting that influence.

You are your own person, you are unique, and although you may or may not feel like you “fit in” all the time, you know when you look inside yourself that you aren’t like anyone else. What separates you from the crowd might be your looks, your beliefs, your heritage, your opinions, or you might not even know what exactly it is.

Now is the time to be proud of it. Now is the time to embrace rule #7: Separate from the pack.

If you are wasting time and energy trying to be as much like everyone else as you can, you are throwing away something precious: your individuality. When you embrace your difference, your DNA, your look or heritage or religion or your unusual name, that’s when you start to shine.

When you operate just outside your comfort zone — whether it’s taking on a new responsibility at work, or a whole new job, or saying yes to a date you might not normally have accepted, or signing up for a class you know nothing about — you force yourself to keep firing on all cylinders. You wake up and pay more attention to your life. And you grow. Just push the envelope of your own experience until you feel slight discomfort. That’s when you separate from the pack. That’s when the magic happens.
