Choose Your Friends Wisely

Nothing wastes time and energy like high-maintenance people. I try to have as few of them in my life as possible.

High-maintenance people suck your energy and pull you into their dramas. They are always late and make everyone wait for them. They change plans or cancel without warning, and it feels like a part-time job just to know them. They always (according to them) are busier than everyone else, are more exhausted than everyone else, and have it harder than anyone else. They suck all the energy out of a room.

I’m not saying I haven’t been this person at times in my life, but I’ve learned that all relationships are about give-and-take. If you’ve got friends who only know how to take, reconsider keeping them in your life.
