4 Ways to Motivate Yourself to Work Out
Staying active is important, but it isn’t always easy. It can feel like you don’t have time to fit a workout into your schedule or that other things should come first. I’m a big believer in doing what you can, when you can – but if you’re having trouble motivating yourself to get moving, these tips might help.
1. Put on your workout clothes. Even if you don’t feel like working out, putting on your running shoes or yoga pants can help get your brain into that mindset. You’ll be surprised how well this works.
2. Write down how you feel after every workout. If you’re prepping for something tough like a cardio class or long distance run, you can really psych yourself out. Writing down how accomplished or rejuvenated you felt after your previous workouts can remind you that it will be worth it.
3. Make whatever you do to exercise your favorite thing. When you find something you love to do, motivation is easy. Yoga is my favorite, but if you’re into finding scenic running routes or hitting the climbing gym, that works too.
4. Surround yourself with inspiration. Whether you decorate your room or desk with motivational quotes, remind yourself of how much stronger you’re getting, or workout with friends who will cheer you on, staying positive can help you continue to stay active.
