Bethenny’s Homemade Salsa

You can always find a pretty good salsa in the store and doctor it, but salsa is so easy to make that I recommend trying it at home at least once. You can be creative with salsa, and it’s a great way to use what you have. Try adding corn, black beans, bell peppers, or different herbs.

Here is a very basic recipe to get you started. The adornments are up to you. This makes about 2 to 3 cups, depending on the size of your tomatoes.

– 2 large tomatoes, or 4 to 6 plums tomatoes
– 1 medium white onion, coarsely chopped
– ½ to 1 jalepeño pepper
– Juice from ½ fresh lime or lemon
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh chopped cilantro

Combine the tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and lime juice in a blender. Pulse until mostly smooth. Pour into a bowl, add salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle with the cilantro. To make pico de gallo, just chop everything with a knife rather than blend. How easy is that?
