Bethenny’s Career Tips

Find your calling and work toward it. No matter what you’ve accomplished or where you are in your life journey, if you’re not already enjoying your dream career, you’ve still got plenty of time to get on the right path. Use these tips to help navigate you on your journey to success.

Ignore the Noise
The “noise” is all that negative B.S. you tell yourself that you can’t do. Most of us are our own worst critics, and as most big-time movie stars will tell you: Ignore the critics.

Use Your Voice
You have to be clear about what you want, both with yourself and with others. You won’t ever get what you want if you don’t ask for it.

Find Your Truth
If it’s hard to achieve your goals without using your voice, it’s impossible to even come close to getting what you want if you have no idea what that is. Follow your gut. If something feels wrong, or if something feels right, go with your instinct.

Don’t Let Your Past Bog You Down
You may have had a difficult childhood, or you may have come from a modest financial background. Don’t ever fall victim to thinking you can’t break the chain and better yourself. Bettering ourselves is what we’re here for.

Everything’s Your Business
You never know what could become your next big break. Do everything to the best of your ability, give every job your all, and treat everything like it’s your business. Respect others, play fair, do what feels right, and always keep both eyes open for what might be your next great path. That way, you won’t miss an opportunity.

Follow Any Available Path to Your Goal
You’re not starting as an executive, even if that’s your end goal. You probably can’t launch your own company as CEO right from the start of your career. However, I’ve learned, “All roads lead to Rome.” Take jobs that feel right and execute them very well. You never know who’s watching.

Just Go for It!
Don’t be desperate or obsessive in achieving your goals, but do have and foster passion. Want it and don’t be deterred from going and getting it.

Be Unique
We’re all unique, even if so many of us forget that. Still, we have this tendency to try to fit into a mold, to blend in with what others are doing. Just because one approach or idea is successful for others, that doesn’t mean it will be for you. In fact, it probably means it won’t be for you. Be yourself and do it your own way. It’s innovation that catches people’s attention.

Life is precious. Love is precious. Celebrate the many good things you have instead of focusing on the worries, and you’ll find success, inner calm, and happiness.
