Foods to Help You Cleanse

Detoxing can be an overwhelming and confusing topic for anyone.

In addition to removing toxins from your diet, it is important to add foods that will support your organs and vital systems. Here are some foods that can do just that:

Apples and Grapes: "An apple a day" is no joke. Both of these fruits are high in fiber and help with detoxifying your stomach and enhancing your immune system. The healthier your immune system the easier it is to break down those toxins.

Artichokes: The artichokes' natural antioxidants are great for your liver and are great for revving up your metabolism. This green veggie can also help decongest fats, making it a powerhouse food.

Cranberries: These red berries are great in full fruit form or pure fruit juice (don't get fooled–many cranberry cocktails are full of sugar). Cranberries contain a digestive enzyme that helps cleanse the lymphatic system and keep certain bacteria at bay.

Cucumbers: Cucumbers have a very high water content and are low in calories. The cucumber also has the power of helping our bodies get rid of extra fluids, toxins and harmful waste. The flesh of cucumber contains caffeic acid and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which also helps reduce swelling and help soothe skin irritations.

Leafy greens: Veggies like chard, kale, spinach, lettuce and dandelion greens are nutrient-rich and help keep your system purified. Kale alone can help reduce cholesterol and help reduce the risk of cancer. Leafy greens are powerful!

Lemons: Lemons are not only a good cleaning agent for the home, but they do wonders for your body too! They act as an antioxidant, antiseptic and detoxifier. Lemons are also chock-full of Vitamin C, making them a great supplement for your immune system.

Watermelon: Watermelon is high in beta-carotene and vitamin C. The seeds are high in vitamin E, as well as the antioxidant minerals zinc and selenium. Watermelons are such a versatile detox food because they can be made into a delicious drink or simply eaten raw.

Whey: For those of you not familiar, whey is a milk protein that is rich in amino acids. Whey can help boost your immune system and also help in removing your body's toxins.

In addition to these great detoxifying foods, the Skinnygirl Daily Cleanse & Restore is a great place to start. There are so many cleanse pills, teas and powder products out there and some are extremely harsh. As with everything in the "Skinnygirl" brand, this product is a simple solution to a common problem. It gently cleanses the system on a daily basis while replenishing and restoring the system with vibrant greens. The important distinction here is that this product is one that you can use safely every day and it "keeps things moving" gently while removing toxins from your system (detoxing).

You can decide how to incorporate this cleanses into your life. If you're feeling very toxic, you can eliminate processed foods and alcohol from your diet, and infuse it with some of the foods mentioned above. If you just need to "keep things moving" more regularly then incorporate this Skinnygirl Daily cleanse into your life as needed.

What do you to do make your body happy and healthy?
