Making Yoga Affordable

I'm so happy to have Kristin McGee guest blog about yoga on Bethenny.com. She instructed on my DVD Body By Bethenny and she is incredibly knowledgeable about yoga. She's not only sharing her advice below, she's also giving away copies of her new DVD! Enjoy. Xo B

Making Yoga Affordable
As a professional yoga teacher for over 20 years, trust me you don't need to spend a lot of money to practice yoga.

Ideally you need a yoga mat, which costs around $20 and is available at almost any store selling exercise accessories or on Amazon. If you don't have a yoga mat and you're travelling or even at home and just want to try yoga, grab a big towel. Block and straps are props you can invest in down the road if you wish and cost under $10.

Wear something comfortable that you can move in. You can always splurge on just one great pair of yoga pants that make you look good and feel good.

Get a great DVD like my DVD with Bethenny, Body by Bethenny, (less than the price of a class) to practice with. You can use a DVD or alternate a few DVDs over and over again, then spend the extra money on a class as a weekly or monthly occasion almost like going out to dinner. You can meet some girlfriends out for a yoga class or alternate going to friends homes and trying DVD's together then have some Skinnygirl cocktails afterwards!

One quintessential yoga pose to practice; or do anywhere, any time, is Downward-Facing Dog pose. A Down Dog a day keeps the back pain away, and strengthens and stretches your entire body.
