BETHENNY BIZ: 10 Steps To Setting Up Your Small Business

Sort of like becoming a parent, starting your own business is one of the most rewarding challenges you'll ever face. Entrepreneurship changes you in ways you don't expect, and really forces you to "act on it" and grow as a person. I know I've learned a lot through my experiences.

Before you start thinking about the big picture perks of running the show, there are a lot of details to be ironed out - especially at the beginning. I found this great infographic that is a great intro to what you should be considering as you embark on your entrepreneurial journey:

Please Read! Bethany. I have followed you from day one. I am desperate. I am a 56 year young disabled woman. Social Security is my only income. I just need an idea or a suggestion. Something I can do from home ( I can still drive and I do not need a caretaker.) I consider myself fairly intelligent, and communicate very well with people. Please. Even if it is a few hundred dollars a month that would help me with my medications and insurance premiums. You are so shrewd and you actually, in a way, remind me of myself .I am painfully honest and people do not respond well or want to hear the truth most of the time. I still manage to say exactly what is on my mind.If you happen to read or someone on your staff reads this, I would be Extremely greatful for any suggestions. If your idea(s) require a class or short term (56) schooling I can push myself through it. I just need to pick your brain. My living arrangements are getting unbearable and I have to become self sufficient again. I never thought I would be in this situation. I have a roommate just to make ends meet. My life has to change. Thanking you in advance for any advice I am literally desperate.By the way. Brynn is an absolute doll baby. Your whole face lights up even when you just say her name. Your love for her is so obvious. She is such a blessing for you.I hope to hear from staff, anyone SOON ! Sincerely, Julie

Hi Bethany. Have admired you for some time. We have some family background & other things in common. I have been an Alcohol & Drug Counselor for 26 years, in private practice for the last 12. Business is very up & down and I struggle financially. I feel like I'm behind with techonology & have a hard time with knowing how to market my business, and of course I lack the finances to fix things. I don't even know where to start with my business, Maly Counseling Services in Columbus, NE (population 23,000).
To make things worse, my lesbian, 23-year-old daughter died 22 months ago of alcohol poisoning, of all things. Toughest loss & challenge of my life. For the first several months, worked picked up & was a great diversion for me. I am in a couple of support groups & getting through it....but now my business if failing/I'm failing.
